Speaking for the River

Read and/or listen to people who care for and share the river.

The Moving Waters project invited historians, environmentalists, rafters, ranchers, story tellers, writers, water managers, and others to speak for the river.

The project also encouraged individuals visiting the site to send their stories; poinst of view; reference to a favorite poem, novel, or non-fiction book; or share thoughts in a format of theid choice. Link to comments

Arizona Canal, south side, looking west from 64th Street in Scottsdale, Arizona. Although the waters of the Salt and the Colorado are visible to us in our canals, we don't take the time to talk much about where the water comes from, the story of how it got here, and whether we diminish the supply and quality for people downstream. I hope some component of the Moving Waters project will increase our knowledge and understanding of the river and inspire us to change how we act.
