Arizona State Library, Library Development Division, Phoenix. OneBookAZ, $3025. Statewide author events and the related exhibit "Writing Down the River" for the 2005 OneBookAZ, which features fiction and nonfiction versions of Glen and Bessie Hyde's tragic honeymoon trip down the Colorado River in the 1920s. Project Director: Mala Muralidharan.

Arizona Aloha Festivals, Inc., Tempe. Island Connections: The Pacific Islander Community in Arizona, $2126. Two presentations at the March 2005 Arizona Aloha Festival on the history and contemporary experiences of Pacific Islander groups in Arizona and the Southwest, accompanied by an informational brochure. Project Director: John Rosa.

ASU Hispanic Research Center, Tempe. Bold Caballeros and Noble Bandidas (We the People project), $5000. A Web site that provides historical, literary, and visual information and analysis on Latino/a noble bandits to teachers and the general public. Project Director: Gary Keller.

ASU Program for Southeast Asia Studies, Tempe. Southeast Asians in Arizona: 30 Year Anniversary Project (We the People project), $4998. Oral histories and subsequent museum and virtual exhibits on the immigration experiences of Southeast Asian elders who came to Arizona after the Vietnam War, in time for the 30th anniversary of the war's end. Project Director: Karen Adams.

Center for Desert Archaeology, Tucson. Saving Place: Developing a Master Plan for Casa Malpais, $3025. A master plan for the interpretation of Casa Malpais National Historical Landmark, to develop the most effective way to present this sensitive prehistoric site as cultural heritage tourism. Project Director: Douglas Gann.

Chandler Museum, Chandler. Goodyear Preservation Project, $6025. Oral histories and subsequent museum and video exhibits on the Ocotillo/Goodyear School, a segregated school for African American children in Chandler from the 1930s to the 1950s. Project Director: Janice Dell.

KAET-TV Channel 8, Tempe. Books &Co, $3025. Four episodes of interviews with prominent writers conducted by author and ASU professor Ron Carlson, for broadcast on PBS station KAET in Spring 2005. Project Director: Jillian Robinson.

Kore Press, Tucson. Reprinting Jewed I-Hoi/ Earth Movements, $3025. The reprinting of an Ophelia Zepeda chapbook and accompanying audio CD, with an introduction and poems in both English and her native O'odham, and a subsequent public lecture to celebrate the reprint. Project Director: Lisa Bowden.

Libraries for the Future, New York. Arizona Youth Voices (We the People project), $7869. Adaptation of a national curriculum that will engage Arizona youth in discussions of current issues and utilize libraries as venues for civic dialogue. Project Director: Brenda Harwell.

Lowell Observatory, Flagstaff. The 1894 Lowell Expedition to Arizona, $3025. An exhibit and lecture series on the 1894 scientific expedition which led to the establishment of Lowell Observatory and significantly influenced Arizona's historical development. Project Director: Kevin Schindler.

Phoenix Museum of History, Phoenix. Arizona Highways: Land and Landmarks, $3025. An exhibit on Arizona's landmark structures and their role in telling the story of the state's land and history. Project Director: Tracy Wright Wagner.

Pima County Parklands Foundation, Vail. The Continuing Legacy of the Civilian Conservation Corps, $2803. Oral histories and a resulting audio exhibit, speaker series, and opening event on the reflections of CCC alumni who worked at Colossal Cave Mountain Park. Project Director: J.J. Lamb.

Scottsdale Public Library Main Branch, Scottsdale. Elizabeth I Exhibit Programming, $1425. A symposium, panel presentation, and lectures to accompany the NEH traveling exhibit Elizabeth I, Ruler and Legend. Project Director: Mary Johnson.

Sharlot Hall Museum, Prescott. The Challenges of Westward Expansion (We the People project), $5025. A lecture series to accompany the museum's living history presentations and highlight topics related to America's westward expansion. Project Director: Mick Woodcock.

Tempe Historical Museum, Tempe. Family History as Tempe Community History, $1239. Workshops to document the history of several diverse Tempe communities by producing family history albums, which will then be used in an exhibit and at a public discussion. Project Director: Amy Douglass.

Tucson Presidio Trust for Historic Preservation, Tucson. Tucson Presidio History Fair, $2815. A one-day festival consisting of lectures and living history presentations and demonstrations highlighting the Spanish and Mexican heritage of the San Agustin Presidio. Project Director: Gayle Hartmann.

West Valley Art Museum, Sun City. Arizona's Legendary Spirit: Through Its History and Diverse Cultures, $2850. In partnership with the Rio Institute for Senior Education, the museum will present a lecture series on Arizona historical and cultural topics, Project Director: Mike Bailey.
