Arizona Literary Treasure Award
At the 2006 Arizona Book Festival, the Arizona Humanities Council awarded the inaugural Arizona Literary Treasure Award. The award honors an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to the literary heritage of Arizona. The Arizona Humanities Council believes that sharing diverse stories connects people by fostering understanding of our differences and similarities, encouraging empathy and communicating our common humanity. The Arizona Literary Treasure Award gives us the opportunity to celebrate the significant impact of the poets, writers, publishers, and storytellers of Arizona and to encourage an ongoing and expanding audience for their work.
